Nestled between the old Los Angeles Stock Exchange and the historic Banks-Huntley Building on Spring Street, a new loft conversion is bringing another round of residents to the Historic Core.

The developer divided each of the six 29,000-square-foot floors (except for the first level) into six studio apartments, with a one-bedroom unit on the building's western corner. The units range from 700 to 1,100 square feet, and are designed in the style of traditional lofts, as opposed to the modern luxury apartments in many new projects. Features include visible sprinkler heads, exposed brick, hardwood floors and nearly 16-foot high ceilings.

Most of the apartments contain industrial-sized pivoting windows. Unlike many other projects whose units are hemmed in on all sides, apartments not facing the street or alley are afforded at least some precious sunlight, thanks to a small breezeway between the buildings from floor two and above.

Units at the rear of the building overlook a surface parking lot and Main Street. Those above Spring Street get panoramic views to the northwest.

Each floor also features its own laundry room. The roof is equipped with an outdoor garden and fireplace.
