While residents of the Douglas Lofts on Spring Street in the Historic Core will be able to enjoy their own green respite - a pocket park adjacent to the parking lot - Rocky Rockefeller, principal at Rockefeller Architecture and partner in MP5 Development, considers the details of the historic Douglas Building to be an equally competitive amenity. Built in 1898, the building is rich with decorative details and quality materials. To maintain the original character of the building, tile flooring and other elements will be carefully restored and re-installed. "Re-using historic doors and windows certainly increases the cost," says Rockefeller, "but we think it is well worth it to have the historic fabric in place."
